5/10/2023 0 Comments The dirty book club lisi harrison![]() ![]() I often felt like the story was choppy, skipping between characters and not explaining situations enough for a reader to understand clearly what was going on. There are a few things I didn’t love about this book. ![]() The original Dirty Book Club, who we are introduced to briefly and then at length through letters, were very funny and on the original wave of feminism. The main character, M.J., was certainly far from perfect but was also quite chic, so it was fun to read from her perspective. ![]() I really enjoyed the female friendships that were both created and fostered throughout this book. Author of The Clique series, I am very familiar with her writing-or at least my 13 year old self was-so I was only too delighted to pick up a book about grown women who join a dirty book club. My interest was piqued when I saw The Dirty Book Club was written by the star of my young adolescent bookshelf, Lisi Harrison. ![]() Then, her chic and spunky older neighbor, Gloria, jets off to Paris and leaves her with a key and an envelope inscribed with “DBC.” Instead of feeling free, she finds herself bored out of her mind. In rebellion, she picks her life up from NYC and heads to a sleepy town in California to live with her boyfriend, Dan. is as career driven as they come until her big promotion is undercut. ![]()
